Philippians 4:6-7

Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
-Philippians 4:6-7 MSG.
It is a wonderful feeling when the peace of God reigns in our hearts. It gives us confidence, proper mindset and comfort in every situation.
As a child of God, we know that we are not exempted on the problems and test in life. in 1st Peter 4:12, we are reminded that we must not be surprised on the trials we are going through. There are many things which make someone anxious and uneasy, making one's heart afraid on what is coming next, and replacing courage with fear.
When someone is anxious changes on emotional state and action will be observed and it affects not only his/her physical and mental health but also the relationship with people around him/her. But does it help? Does anxiety or worrying can add even a single hour to our life? the answer is 'NO, it don't'. [Luke 12:25-26]
Imagine yourself skipping meals, not doing things and not talking with the people around you because of those things that worrying you cannot add a single hour to your life, instead it takes away a lot from you. Your physical & mental health, your joy, and your relationship with family and friends, especially your time. We must understand and remember that worrying doesn't benefit us and it is not worth even a single hour of our life.
Anxiety takes away a lot from you. Your physical & mental health, your joy, your relationship with family and friends, especially your time.
In Mark 4:35-41, it describes how Jesus took control over the waves and calm the storm.
35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
What kind of waves are shaking your faith right now? and What kind of wind is blowing your peace away?
There are many kind of waves that surrounds us but the waves that are shaking you is not the ones outside, but the waves inside you (which you’ve created from your mind that flows to your heart). These are the things you saw from television, social medias, heard from news, friends, family members, the one that you have read and the ones that you keep on dwelling with even it happened in the past. These are the things that you choose to pick and feed to your mind. The waves are inside you.
When Jesus was sleeping, his disciples woke him up and asked him if he [Jesus] cares for them. There are moments in our lives when everything falls apart, and we tend to wonder if God still care. If he still care if we are being hurt, being sick, afraid, hungry or in danger. But to let you know, Jesus was calmly sleeping on the boat during the storm not because he doesn’t care but because he want his disciples to take courage and have faith knowing that He is with them. I want you to know that Jesus, God himself does care with you. He knows that these things will happen even before you experience things you’re going through right now. [1 Peter 4:12]
Jesus was calmly sleeping on the boat during the storm not because he doesn’t care but because he want his disciples to take courage and have faith knowing that He is with them.
It is mentioned in Philippians 4, that we have to shape these worries into prayer, we have to ask , we need to trust , we need to place our confidence and hope on Him. Though He knows the deepest desires of our hearts, he is teaching us to reach out, to ask and speak with Him with our hearts.
He is in us and will be with us always. Standing greater than the waves and stronger than the wind, is His Breath who gives life to everything. His voice who can calm the storm in you. As all these things [problems, insecurities, flaws, lacking, sickness] and anything which causing you to worry are ‘Nothing but a thing’ that cannot add even a single hour to your life! So before you decide to feed your mind with anxious thoughts, think of it first.
You can be Concerned. But you must Not be Anxious.
God Bless You!
