I am what I am

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. [1 Corinthians 15:10]

Many people nowadays are feeding from attentions and seeking approval from other people to the point that they even forget their true identity just to be fit to what we call society.

Let the scripture remind us that in Christ, we found our true purpose and reason to exist and it is by grace to become who we are today.

“ I do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God” [1 Corinthians 15:9]

Yes, we are all undeserving, reason why grace is given for us to be found. There are certain points in our lives that we, ourselves, persecuted the church of God in different forms and ways in our time today. It may be from the words you speak, the thoughts you keep, and the way you treat this temple [body] by being a slave to sinful deeds. Plenty of things which most of the time, we are not aware of.

But now, says the LORD— the one who created you, Jacob, the one who formed you, Israel: Don’t fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine. [Isaiah 43:1]

The world identify us by what we do, label us by what we wear, achieved and gained, and called us by our sins yet, our gracious God called us by our name and gave us the right to become his children.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KEEP IN MIND

You are wanted

Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. [Mark 3:13]

We must keep in mind that we should not lose ourselves to be someone who we are not just to be liked by others, for you are already wanted and called by God.

You are with a purpose

He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach [Mark 3:14]

With a purpose, we must reveal ourselves identity in Christ and not a cover up just to be acceptable in other’s eyes. For Preaching his Kingdom is not limited by words, as it can be done through genuine actions that influence others.

You are light of the world

You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill cannot be hidden.[Matthew 5:14]

Never lose your light and make others stumble. Keep shining as God designed you to be. Help others to see God’s goodness through you, that they may be blessed too.

You are forgiven

“Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” [Hebrews 10:17]

Being called by our names and not by our sin is something which we should be grateful for. You are no longer your old self, you became new and alive in Christ who saved you from the sting of death. You are forgiven.

You are loved

I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you [Jeremiah 31:3]

Stop begging for people’s attention just to feel loved and accepted. For God himself, loved us already with an everlasting and unchanging love. If we know this, we will not be deceived and feel unloved. Instead, we will generously share it with others because our source is unlimited.

" If we know this, we will not be deceived and feel unloved. Instead, we will generously share this kind of love to others because our source is unlimited"

God knows who we are more than we do. He knows our weaknesses and give us strength, we fall short of his glory yet, he give us his grace. We do things in our own way but he always find us and never let us astray. Remember that our identity is not based on the standards of this world but of God. Stop covering insecurities with fake confidence. Live the way as God's people should live. Being a child of God is not gained, but freely given. Let us live as who we are in Christ.
